This is one of the few arguments I would happily fight if my life ever depend on it.

Discrimination

I’m sure if you were to ask any one of those judges whether racism is a good thing or a bad thing, every one of them would instantly say ‘Bad.’ and why? Because it is a form of discrimination. It is completely judging someone, maybe tormenting them, on their appearance alone. But somehow this argument instantly changes when it’s a choice to look a certain way…

Obviously it is human nature to make a snap judgement on someone, it’ll be terribly difficult to stop that habit, but the fact that they say because she wears a blue wig she can’t be trusted with children as she may be willing to give them drugs? How does ones choice of hair accessory change the ability to look after kids? I don’t understand. You have blonde hair, your I.Q must be below average! You don’t wear make up?! You must be such a boring person then!

How does the way you choose to look instantly change your personality?

I’m going to quote, with much confidence, a metaphor that can never be said enough, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”.

While racism is a form of discrimination. Racism is not discrimination solely based on how someone looks that would be colorism.

And it is different when someone chooses to look a certain then when a person is born of a certain color or ancestry. You do not face discrimination on the level of racism or colorism because you can dye your hair back, you can cover your tattoos, you can take out your piercings and you can wear the norm but you cannot stop being a POC nor can you change your ancestry. Racism is deep rooted into society with the ideals of it being taught and repeated while looking at someone and saying “Wow, blue hair, leather and fishnet = not a good mother.” is a personal ideal even though others might share it.

While, yes, all discrimination is disgusting.

You cannot compare your fashion choices, and by proxy yourself, being judged to that of racism/colorism.

It is not the same.

You do not understand the stigma of racism because some hates your wig and pulls ideas of your person from them.
